Touch

This work demonstrates some of my basic ideas of objects and the self.

The reliance on objects is actually ongoing: printed photographs, souvenirs, artworks. The fascination with objects is a reaction to the fluidity and unease of life. Questioning and fearing real relationships, creatures, nature. We have to reinvent ourselves in a new nature like the city. To free ourselves from the fear of being helpless in the face of a dangerous and immense world. This attachment is in response to the uncertainty and change in a fluid world. Something concrete and clear is needed.

I believe that touch in different ways is an important way in which people interact with objects. The contact between the person and the attachment object constructs a personal space that is real but controlled by the mind. It is a safe way to feel a strong connection to the object and the world. Touch allows those who feel intimidated to feel their body's place and boundaries in the space they are in. So the inclusion of cells, microscopic materials, sounds, is an expression of a world beyond the ordinary, reducing the self to the microscopic and at the same time magnifying it to the cosmic. Expressing what the body is, what is beyond the body and where the boundaries are.
